On the trail
It has been a busy last few weeks of training. With the short days, colder temps and long miles the team has been busy! Here are a few of our favorite pics taken this month.

Joan Klejka has arrived and the team couldn't be happier
Tailwind Kennel is excited to welcome Joan Klejka to the team this winter. Joan Klejka is 20 years old and Jessica's younger sister. The six out of the Klejka children, she has previously raced in many Kuskokwim 300 sponsored races and in the Jr. Iditarod . Joan spent last summer living up on the Norris Glacier with our Tailwind Kennel athletes and they are excited to have her joining the team this winter.

Alpine Creek Excursion Sled Dog Race
Jess, Sam and the team enjoyed the first race of the season and last race of 2018 with the 2018 Alpine Creek Excursion Race. The whole kennel except for Bogus, Piglet and Goose traveled north to the denali hwy for a fun race. While the dogs enjoyed a perfect camp, Jess and Sam joined the other mushers inside Alpine creek lodge where the hospitality abounded.

Alpine Creek Lodge a necessity for early sled training
This year with the late freeze followed by our 7.0 earthquake the tailwind kennel athletes were lucky enough to enjoy a perfect stay at our favorite winter lodge! The team got in some essential camping practice and the view wasn't bad either.
